NepalAbility Marks 20 Years of Transforming Lives with the Garden of Hope 2025 Fundraiser!

Empowering People with Disabilities in Nepal Through Compassionate Care & Rehabilitation

On September 14, 2025, NepalAbility — a trailblazing physician and allied healthcare non-profit — joyfully celebrated its 20th anniversary with the unforgettable Garden of Hope 2025 Fundraiser. Held in a serene private garden oasis and hosted by the visionary founder, Dr. Nora Cullen, this milestone event brought together a vibrant community united by a shared mission: restoring mobility, dignity, and quality of life to people in Nepal living with disability.

Celebrating Two Decades of Healing & Hope

For 20 inspiring years, NepalAbility has been at the forefront of advancing rehabilitation services in Nepal — a country where 83% of individuals with disabilities have little to no access to care. In a region where public rehabilitation hospitals simply don’t exist, and where rural terrain makes healthcare nearly unreachable, NepalAbility steps in to bridge the gap.

From its humble beginnings in 2006, this Canadian charity has launched 26 volunteer medical teams, delivering sustainable rehab services, mentoring local professionals, and sowing the seeds of long-term impact — one patient, one partnership at a time.

Every Dollar, Every Step, Every Soul Counts

A cornerstone of NepalAbility’s integrity? 100% of donations go directly to programs on the ground in Nepal. Every healthcare volunteer — including doctors, therapists, and nurses — personally funds their own travel and accommodations, ensuring your contributions truly make a difference.

Inspiring Voices, Powerful Stories

This year’s event featured Keynote Speaker Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s former Chief Medical Officer of Health and a longtime advocate for global health. Sharing heartfelt stories from his time as Medical Director at United Mission Hospital in Tansen, Nepal, Dr. Williams inspired attendees to believe in the power of global connection and grassroots action.

Special Guest: Canada’s Gardening Guru

Also gracing the garden stage was Mark Cullen, beloved Canadian gardening expert and proud Order of Canada recipient. A passionate supporter of NepalAbility, Mark shared his wisdom on both horticulture and humanity — offering insights and even answering green-thumb questions from attendees.

A Celebration of Culture & Community

Set against the backdrop of blooming flora, the afternoon bloomed with live Nepali music, authentic cuisine, refreshing drinks, and the ever-popular Silent Wine Auction. It was more than a fundraiser — it was a gathering of hearts, hands, and hope.
