Torontoartsandevents Travel to Dominican Republic 2025, staying at the Casa Marina Reef Resort near the town of Sosúa which is located in the northern coast between the city of Puerto Plata and the villa of Cabarete.
The beaches are very beautiful but a bit rough – suitable for strong swimmers and surfers. There were many red flag days during our visit which recommended no swimming. The pools were good though.
The resort had good food with a wide selection: eggs, cereal as well as a great selection of meats such as chicken, pork, beef, vegetables, soup and etc. It had ice cream occasionally and deserts and fruit at every meal.
The entertainment is ok but repetitive. The best show is the Michal Jackson impression show.
The resort is fairy well managed – the staff are well organized and friendly; it is a bit run down. The telephones in the rooms did not work. On the weekends when the crowds wanted to party into the morning, the staff did not ask them to respect those who wanted to retire early. The harsh rain during the Christmas break caused some damage and during storms parts of the pools near the shore had to be closed.
Point of interest in Sosua:
Playa Sosúa (Sosúa Beach) – Located a five minute walk from the resort, it is a good beach with white sand and turquoise water.
The Road of the Artists – Located on the way to sosúa beach where local artists and shop owners sell their goods.
Non-tourist Fishing Village – We walked past the Road of the Artists, through a forest to this unique fishing village:
Torontoartsandevents recommends Travel to Dominican Republic 2025 to check out its beautiful beaches, and its unique culture. Try to avoid the wet season – i.e. travel after January 10 in winter.
