The 44th Annual Dora Mavor Moore 2024 Awards, presented by The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) and sponsored by The Romano D’Andrea Foundation graced the halls of the historic Elgin and Winter Theatre Centre. It was hosted by Ryan G. Hinds who entertained the crowd with humour and grace and award-winning music director & composer Adam Sakiyama. The Dora Awards celebrates excellence in professional theatre, dance, and opera. The award winner of the 43 award categories across 7 distinct divisions were cheered by their peers.
The Envelope Please:
Medea wins all 5 Dora Awards in the Opera Division. Three Sisters, Bad Roads and The Master Plan each receives 2 Doras each in the General Theatre Division. Three Sisters wins the Outstanding Production Award. Appropriate wins 2 Awards including Outstanding Production in the Independent Theatre Division. Tyson’s Song, nominated for six wins one Dora for Outstanding New Play. Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 wins four Dora awards in the Musical Theatre Division while De Profundis: Oscar Wilde in Jail takes home two Awards.

Red Carpet for Dora Mavor Moore Awards 2024
Special guests theater legend Eric Peterson and Her Honour Mayor Olivia Chow presented the first awards recognizing excellence in professional theater, dance, and opera. The pre-show Red Carpet was hosted by Lisa Marie Diliberto. The Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award and the Silver Ticket Award recipients were also recognized. The Dora Awards After-Party commenced immediately after the awards ceremony in the unique and beautiful Cascading Lobbies of the EWGTC. Guests were dazzled with the entertainment.
The 44th annual Dora Awards celebrated excellence in theatre, dance and opera productions in a grand fashion with the stars of theatre . A great event for theatre –check back for next year’s event.
