The TELUS Friendly Future Foundation’s highly anticipated Signature Gala—Together for Tomorrow —made a dazzling return on June 12, 2025, raising crucial funds to help break down financial barriers to education for youth across Canada.

As post-secondary education becomes increasingly out of reach for many, with 75% of students facing financial hurdles and nearly one-third at risk of dropping out, this inspiring evening brought hope, celebration, and real impact. Proceeds from the Gala directly support the TELUS Student Bursary Program, which provides life-changing financial aid to students committed to making a difference in their communities.

Together for Tomorrow Gala – A Night of Stars, Purpose, and Passion

Hosted by beloved TV personality Arisa Cox, the gala lit up the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning in Toronto with unforgettable performances by Canadian icons Arkells, Deborah Cox, and Steven Page. Guests also enjoyed a gourmet experience curated by Top Chef Canada’s Mark McEwan, along with exclusive auction experiences—making it a night to remember for a powerful cause.

Special thanks to presenting sponsor TELUS, Co-Chairs Jay McCauley and Christi Himmelheber, and the dedicated Gala Committee for making this extraordinary event a reality.

Fueling the Future: Education Support That Changes Lives

Since launching in 2023, the TELUS Student Bursary has already awarded over $4 million to more than 1,000 students across 93 schools in nine provinces. These aren’t just scholarships—they’re springboards for socially-conscious youth ready to lead.

“Our bursary recipients are true changemakers—resilient, driven, and committed to their communities,” said Nimmi Kanji, Executive Director of the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation. “Together for Tomorrow is more than an event—it’s a movement to ensure youth have the tools they need to thrive.”

In 2024, 76% of bursaries went to equity-deserving students, and half of recipients were first-generation post-secondary students in Canada. Each student receives up to $5,000, plus wraparound supports like TELUS mobility, internet, and mental health resources—helping them stay connected and succeed.

Many bursary recipients are now youth ambassadors on TELUS Community Boards, helping guide local funding decisions and creating a ripple effect of change.

“This bursary didn’t just support my studies—it helped me launch youth programs in my community,” said Nebiyou Timotewos, York University student and Diana Award recipient. “Now, as a TELUS Community Board member, I’m giving back by amplifying the voices of tomorrow.”
