ComKids Annual Celebrity Sports Mixer 2024

ComKids Toronto held its Annual Celebrity Sports Mixer on April 17, 2024 at the Hockey Hall of Fame. ComKids raised over $500,000 to support their program to help students in need. It is their largest fundraiser event of the year. G. Scott Paterson, Chair & Founder has championed this successful Annual Mixer for 20 years.

It is a grand night of celebrity athletes and VIPs, a night of drinks, fabulous food, beautiful people and a night of philanthropy all for a worthy cause: the ComKids program! Guests bid on silent auction items for a chance to win high-value products and mingled with their favourite athletes and celebrities. Guests listened to inspiring stories from ComKids Student Ambassadors. Photographers (including Torontoartsandevents ) snapped candid pics of guest with their favourite athletes and celebrities. Guests enjoyed the popular interactive hockey games at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Hockey Players included Marcel Dionne, Rick Vaive and Tomas Kaberle. The VIPs included Aaron Korolek, Chelsea Lecce and Davis Sanchez and many, many others.

CompKids Program & Student Ambassador

Students need digital literacy and current computers to be successful! We see students who do not have the same access to technology as their peers. The ComKids program, established in 1998, levels the playing field for students by providing technology in the form of laptop computers and support in the form of educator mentorship so they have the means to succeed. Nune, a grade eleven student, gave a passionate speech how after completing the ComKids program she was able to use the computer to read books, articles and research topics to assist her in her academic work.

ComKids is a community-based intervention with a proven track record of effectively supporting youth to become technologically proficient, improve academic outcomes, build confidence, make better life choices and build their communities.
