SOCAN (The Society of Composers Authors and
Music Publishers of Canada) held its 17th annual SOCAN Awards Gala at the Carlu in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on November 22, 2006. The whose who of Canada's music industry came in recognition of some of Canada's most talented songwriters, composers, lyricists and music publishers at this SOCAN Awards Gala. It was hosted by country artist Jason McCoy. Finger Eleven, Jann Arden, Deric Ruttan, Nick Gilder and George Canyon, among many others, were in attendance to accept their award.
Jason McCoy and his band The Road Hammers opened with their performance of "I'm a Road Hammer." The band returned to the stage
later in the evening to perform "Girl on the Billboard".
