Canada's National Ballet School on February 28, 2008 at the historic Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario,Canada honored Sandra Faire and Ivan Fecan for their contributions to raising money for the NBS. Sandra and Ivan are committed philanthropists who have played a huge role in expanding the future of many of Toronto's leading arts institutions including this school. Following the reception, the Dinner was held at Concert Hall and was a mouth watering and tender roast beef dinner. Seamus O'Regan, co-host of CTV's Canada AM hosted an evening of elegance as Canada's National Ballet School paid tribute to Sandra and Ivan. . The entertainment consisted of wonderful music, a live auction and a special series of beautiful presentations by NBS students and Canadian violinist Dr. Draw entertained guests throughout the evening with a mixture of classical and house music.

    NBS: Canada's National Ballet School

Now in its 49th year, Canada's National Ballet School, is an important training institution for aspiring young dancers and teachers. Although about 1,000 young dancers audition each year, only about 50 are accepted into the NBS's full-time Professional Ballet/Academic Program or the Post-Secondary (Intensive Dance). The School's progressive curriculum, with its emphasis on the physical and emotional well being of the student, has put NBS at the forefront of dance training internationally. NBS graduates can be found as dancers, choreographers, artistic directors, teachers, and administrators in over 65 dance companies world-wide. NBS also operates a retail store, The Shoe RoomŪ. The School's graduates include Canadian ballet stars such as Karen Kain, Rex Harrington ( see Past Events - Unmasked ) , Veronica Tennant, James Kudelka and most of the dancers in the National Ballet of Canada and dance artists in major companies around the world. Many of the students we meet opening night were headed for the Canadian National Ballet next year. NBS also operates a retail store, The Shoe RoomŪ.

The GRAND PAS DE DEUX was a beautiful night for a very worthy cause. If you missed this event, be sure to put it onto your calender for next year! Also note that NBS will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in October of 2010. For more information about the National Ballet School or to donate, click on this web page for its web site!
