Mirror Ball 2011

The Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CCTFA) Foundation held their 20th annual Mirror Ball 2011 at the Fairmount Royal York on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in support of the CCTFA Foundation’s free programs that address the psychosocial needs of women living with cancer.  There was a dazzling display of vaudevillian splendor and you were transported back to the time of magicians, dancers and slapstick. There was delectable cuisine as well as live and silent auctions including the fine wine auction.  A lot of funds were raised for a worthy cause.  This event attracted more than 650 guests from the cosmetics, fashion and media industries as well as supporters of the cause.  The chairs of this event were Allan Lever, President, Hollywood Alliance Canada Inc. and Mary Kelly, Executive Vice President, Merchandising & Category Management, Shoppers Drug Mart

This event was also the single largest fundraiser for the CCTFA Foundation and it has raised over $ 9 million for the providers of the Look Good Feel Better® and Facing Cancer Together™ programs to provide social and emotional support, information and resources to women with cancer and those who support them.

Sponsors for this prestigious fundraising gala included Coty, Estée Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, Icon Digital Productions, Bourjois Paris, TEVA, Stylesense, Coca Cola’s FUZE brand, Spyder Works and L’Oréal. Event media partners include Transcontinental Media, Rogers Publishing, St. Joseph Media, Reader’s Digest Association and QMI Publications.

Entertainment:

Kim D’Eon was the entertaining host for the evening while Lady Luck Productions provided a talented group of singers, dancers, acrobats and musicians.  Mercedes Chenard performed a unique contortion acts.  Adam Growe provided comic entertainment and Mysterion provided psychological entertainment.  And following the evening’s program, guests hit the after party and dance to sounds provided by renowned DJ Wristpect.

“Look Good Feel Better offers complimentary cosmetic and hair alternatives workshops that give women the tools and information to manage the effects that cancer and treatment have on their appearance. The two-hour Look Good Feel Better workshops are offered at more than 110 hospitals and cancer care facilities across Canada, and have served more than 110,000 women since 1992.
Launched in 2010, Facing Cancer Together is a companion program to Look Good Feel Better, offering an online community where women with cancer and those who support them can give and get support about the many social and emotional challenges that are inherent with a cancer diagnosis. The Miror Ball was a good evening for a worthy cause; namely, the Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CCTFA) Foundation.  It was a great effort on the part of all the sponsors, organizers, businesses that donated auction items, bar staff and waiters.
