The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) held its 20th edition of Bloor Street Entertains (BSE) on November 30, 2016 – the eve of World Aids Day.  It hosted Toronto’s business and philanthropic leaders for a great night of dining and entertainment, all in support of AIDS research. This year was the largest BSE to date with several restaurants being added.  It brought together some of Toronto’s finest culinary masters, luxury retailers, and creative florists.  The evening started with 25 cocktail receptions. Guests then enjoyed a four-course dining experience with tables settings carefully designed by some of Toronto’s most creative floral and décor experts. After the fine dining, the guests attended to the Post-BSE, after party at the iconic Royal Ontario Museum.  New York DJ Hector Fonseca had guests on their feet. Throughout the night guests had access to “BSE Exquisite”, the online boutique, silent auction, and ultimate draw. With approximately 1,000 guests in attendance, BSE raised about $600,000 for HIV and AIDS research.

HISTORY OF THE EVENT

“Worldwide there are more than 35 million people living with HIV and AIDS and nearly 75,000 Canadians. It is estimated that one in 120 Torontonians are HIV-positive. An estimated 35 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses since the beginning of the epidemic.

“For 30 years, the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research has supported innovative research to fight this disease. Bloor Street Entertains is Canada’s single largest fundraising gala event to support this research, and has brought in millions of dollars over the last 20 years.

“The support of guests, sponsors, and partners at BSE and Post BSE has been and will continue to be the driving force behind reaching the goal of eradicating this disease.
