Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*) Spring/Summer 2017 season

Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*) held their Spring/Summer 2017 season at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens. TOM* continued its partnership with the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (DYBIA) for the Spring/Summer 2017 season which took place from August 15, 2016 to August 21, 2016.“With the phenomenal growth of TOM* in just the past two years, we needed to move to a bigger venue,” says Jeff Rustia, Executive Director and Founder of TOM*. “And what a great honour it is for TOM* to call this historic building our new home, known for hosting some of Canada’s most epic events, including the last performance of the Beatles in Toronto exactly 50 years ago. We are excited for TOM* to become a part of its history and heritage through showcasing men’s fashion in the heart of the city.”

Toronto Men’s Fashion Week consisted of the opening night party at Maison Mercer, the Designers Meet The Press Party, on August 16th at One King West Hotel & Residences, talks and the Runway presentations from August 18 to August 20, 2016.

The opening night party on August 15 at Maison Mercer included models and a jam packed house with an open bar.
 
TOM* Spring/Summer 2017 season showcased collections from: Caffery Van Horne, Candace Daniela, Diodati By Luca Galaardo, Finezza, SWAM, HENDRIXROE, Joao Paulo Guedes, Zane Barlas, Xian, L’Momo, Kollar and O’Kana.

Highlights this season included the John Lennon collection, MensFashion4Hope, the WFG Emerging Menswear Designer Award (EMDA).  MensFashion4Hope showcased Canadian male celebrities wearing the latest menswear from GOTSTYLE™ with proceeds raised for the Hospital for Sick Children through the Kol Hope Foundation for Children. The WFG EMDA’s closed off the runway presentations on the Saturday featuring Canada’s top five emerging Canadian menswear designers in competition for a grand prize of $10,000 sponsored by World Financial Group.

About the Mattamy Athletic Centre:
As a recognized Ontario Heritage site, the Mattamy Athletic Centre aka Maple Leaf Gardens has been transformed into an impressive athletic facility for Ryerson University while preserving the treasures of the past.

“The state of-the-art facility features a 2,400 seat NHL-sized arena on the third floor underneath the iconic Maple Leaf Gardens domed ceiling. The second level contains a multipurpose 1,000 seat gymnasium as well as a fitness centre and high-performance training area.
“The facility is used by a unique cross-section of Ryerson University students, varsity athletes, faculty and staff, mixed with community members from around the GTA. Numerous private leagues, third party rentals and community groups keep the facility operating at complete capacity year-round.
