The SickKids Foundation held its 15th annual Scrubs in the City event last night, on Thursday June 2, 2016 at the naturally beautiful Evergreen Brickworks - the theme was everything London!  Celebrating everything Posh or Punk, and the attendees did not disappoint!  There was some wonderfully inspired Anglo Saxon fashion, ranging from ‘80s Sex Pistols punk, to glamorous Royal Ascot inspired hats and fascinators.  This Gala raised over $800,000 enabling the hospital to purchase a state-of-the-art Siemens 3T MRI machine.

ET Canada host Cheryl Hickey, always a crowd favorite, wowed in a ‘80s inspired gold lame dress, complete with a matching fashionable entourage.  Co-Chairs Molly Fitzpatrick and Lucinda Kogan, and their team of volunteer committee members which included Suzanne Rogers and Glenn Dixon, left no Anglo detail untouched, including a standout red rose floral wall tea party photo area.

This was an exciting party for a great cause!  The fabulous entertainment for the evening included a live Beatles tribute band, to DJ spinning some New Wave British music, interrupted by a drumline who introduced the co-chairs and the committee members.  The entertainment continued with an inspiring youth choir singing some classics hits from Queen, leading into an amazing dance troupe that got the crowd dancing to the electric slide, and of course an energetic Spice Girls tribute band who had the crowd dancing into the night.

The British inspired menu was courtesy of Toben Food by Design, which set up delicious food stations throughout the gala, including a Sunday roast carving station, a savory pie stations with standouts like Halibut & Lobster pie, a dessert station with classics British chocolates and desserts, as well as hors d’oeuvres such as traditional fish ‘n chips, turkey bangers on crisp hand cut potato crisps, and classic canapés that perfectly matched the free flowing bubbly, caviar anyone?
As we were leaving, we noted that guests were still dancing and outside a taste for next year’s event was waiting for them – Scrubs in the City –Exotic India- Complete with a spice bag, and a Bengal tiger!
