Anticipated Event Sells Out Again With Overwhelming Community Support

Young People Against Alzheimer’s (YPAA) held their Fourth Annual Memory Ball gala in support of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the luxurious Palais Royale on Toronto’s waterfront. In addition to host and radio personality Amanda Logan, the entertainment included the live jazz band, Sax 4th Avenue and Toronto DJ Lexx Decibel.  Guests enjoyed an open bar and sampled title sponsor Feature Foods’ seafood at their annual herring and vodka bar, enjoyed treatments from Aveda’s spa experts, and experienced live artist Carlos Delgado –see photo - create two priceless masterpieces inspired by the event.

The Ball’s theme was “Mind over Alzheimer’s” and highlights the ability “to persevere against Alzheimer’s through raising awareness and being positive that the disease can be beaten.”  The YPAA hopes that Memory Ball can help to shatter the various stigmas that surround Alzheimer’s such as the notion that the disease only affects the elderly and “asserts that Alzheimer’s and related dementias deserve attention and funding and that “together we can find a cure.”

About Young People against Alzheimer’s (YPAA) and Memory Ball

“In 2011, YPAA was established to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease among a young demographic. Each member of YPAA has been personally touched by Alzheimer’s disease. The group is passionate about increasing awareness for Alzheimer’s disease as both Ms. Poirier’s and Ms. Fudurich’s mothers were diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Since Inception, Memory Ball has hosted over 1,200 guests and fundraised upwards of $120,000 for the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. In 2015, YPAA aims to exceed a combined four-year total of $150,000.
