the Ball
The Yee Hong Centre held its 21st annual Dragon Ball on February 6, 2010 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre celebrating the Year of the Dragon. For TorontoArtsandEvents! the highlight of the evening was the grand reception that offered many different types of appetizers including fresh oysters and clams, sushi, Washugyu beef, Peking duck, suckling pig and dim sum, as well as an open bar. There was a media frenzy from the appearance of Jack Layton who had just announced that he had prostate cancer but was receiving treatment.
According to the producers, the Dragon Ball is the largest Chinese New Year Charity Gala in North America with more than 1,500 guests gathering to partake in what is one of the worldıs largest festivals the Lunar New Year. At the Grand Reception starting at 5.30 p.m., over 15,000 pieces of hors dıoeuvres, donated and prepared by some of Torontoıs finest restaurants, were served.
