The Bell Celebrity Gala is an important social event for Toronto. For lovers of star gazing, this night did not disappoint. This ball attracted celebrity guests from the world of sports, fashion, music, media and business. Everyone was united under one enormous roof to support and raise funds for the SickKids Foundation. The theme for the evening was Once Upon a Time. "Once Upon a Time will take you on a journey into the Enchanted Forest. Take the Path to Grandma's House and escape Through the Looking Glass to the other side awaits your Storybook Rock fantasy." [www.celebritygala.ca]
The Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction
The 2009 event theme "Once Upon a Time" is all about that childhood fantasy. Guests entered the cocktail reception on a red carpet flanked by news teams with cameras and roving reporters. Guests see themselves in the Fun House Mirrors and as they entered the show grounds via the midway experience - the sights and sounds of a nostalgic outdoor amusement park atmosphere took them back to their childhood days. For the brave ones, a stunning roller coaster ride really brought out the fun child in guests! While guests sipped cocktails, they cruised the charity auctions tables to bid on high quality corporate donations for the auction - all for a good cause.
Dinner Theatre and Entertainment Showcase
The dinning area was impressive. We believe that there were well over 200 tables seating approx ten guests per table.
After the dinner, there was a live auction and entertainment emanating from the enormous stage.
To the delight of the fashionistas in the house, there was a fine fashion show.
Following the fashion show, the lineup of stars and entertainers was impressive. The line up featured Our Lady Peace, Kardinal Offishall, Marianas Trench, Eva Avila, Carly Rae Jepsen, Dilana and Shiloh. The Gala headliner was Natasha Bedingfield
and the VIP after party entertainment was Ivana Santilli.
The 18th annual Bell Celebrity Gala was a fantastic evening for a worthy cause; namely, The Hospital for Sick Children. It was a great effort on the part of all the sponsors, organizers, business that donated auction items, stylists and makeup artists, celebrities, bar staff, waiters, security, journalists to support the SickKids Foundation. So if you didn't go this year, you must to next year and check back here for details!
