The Bell Celebrity Gala is an important social event for Toronto. For lovers of star gazing, this night did not disappoint. This ball attracted celebrity guests from the world of sports, fashion, music, media and business. Everyone was united under one enormous roof to support and raise funds for the SickKids Foundation. The theme for the evening was Dorothy Goes Glam. The Wizard of Oz mood was captured by attendees wearing either black tie or dressing up as one of the characters from this famous movie.
The Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction
Guests entered the cocktail reception on a red carpet flanked by news teams with cameras and roving reporters. The Bizarre was a mesmerizing cocktail reception marketplace where the Oz characters, socialites and celebrities all came together as one. While guests sipped cocktails, they cruised the charity auctions tables to bid on high quality corporate donations for the auction - all for a good cause.
Dinner Theatre and Entertainment Showcase
The dinning area was impressive. I believe there were well over 200 tables seating approx ten guests per table.
After the dinner, there was a live auction and entertainment emanating from the enormous stage.
To the delight of the fashionistas in the house, there was a Motorola Designer Challenge Fashion show. Motorola had challenged 10 fashion students and recent grads from Toronto to design a couture outfit in a Cabaret theme.
Following the fashion contest, the main fashion show and the lineup of stars and entertainers was impressive. The line up featured Lindsay Ell, Marla Joy, Suzy McNeil, Wade O. Brown, Tomi Swick, and Rex Goudie. The Gala headliner was Katharine McPhee and the VIP after party entertainment was Liberty Bell and Fefe Dobson.
The 16th annual Bell Celebrity Gala was a fantastic evening for a worthy cause. It was a great effort on the part of all the sponsors, organizers, business that donated auction items, stylists and makeup artists, celebrities, bar staff, waiters, security, journalists to support the SickKids Foundation. So if you didn't go this year, you must to next year and check back here for details!
