Sounds of Silence

On Feb. 17, 2007 ( at the Aussie Biosphere, Yonge & Dundas Square, Toronto ) Australia Tourism held its Sounds of Silence Dinner which is a fine dining experience the theme of which is Australia's iconic Sounds of Silence dinner, where guests enjoy a five-star dining experience under the stars whilst watching the sun set over Ayers Rock (Uluru). This event was part of Australia Week which ran from February 15 to 18, 2007. Black tied Guests enjoyed fine Australian Penfolds wines and the meal was prepared by internationally-acclaimed Australian Aboriginal chef Mark Olive ( see photo below). Mark Olive, also known as the black olive used the vibrant colours and earthy tastes of traditional Australian outback cuisine - Mark sourced flavours like lemon myrtle, pepper leaf, bush tomatoes and bunya nuts in the Australian outback and then blended those bush ingredients using traditional cooking techniques to create a to create a truly unique and fine dining experience.

The entertainment that night included Mick Denigan, the world's best whip-cracker, Australian cultural export, Descendance Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander Dance Troupe as well as uniquely Australian musical entertainment. Terri Irwin attended the Penfolds Sounds of Silence Gala and made a special presentation to the people of Toronto which was warmly received.
