OzFlix: Australian Film Weekend
February 22 to 24, 2008
The 3rd annual Australian Film Weekend was held Feb. 22 to 24, 2008 in Toronto, Ontario at the ROM ( see Sources & Links ). This film festival, which was directed by Shane Smith and Eileen Arandiga, opened with a reception hosted by the Australian High Commissioner and featured fine Australian wine.
The opening night film was Lucky Miles by director, Michael James Rowland. This film which was part comedy and part tragedy told a tale of Iraqi and Cambodian refugees who were left by a boat operator in a remote part of Western Australian and were told that there was a bus over the dunes. There was a Kids Program as well as Aboriginal Shorts. The closing screening was 2 Door Mansion, directed by Kevin Carlin and tells the story of a contest to win a MINI car that goes awry for the sponsors!
